High School Youth Group

Life during the High School years is an exciting time, as youth begin to take the first steps into adulthood. A more independent attitude begins to develop as youth pursue their academics, activities, friendships, relationships, first jobs, and other interests. It is a time for critical thinking and for discernment as young people begin forming independent answers to the questions of who they are and who they want to become. Due to the importance of this unique time, it is fitting to have a ministry dedicated particularly to helping high school youth come into an adult faith.

The High School Youth Group seeks to do this by offering a faith centered gathering opportunity for teens in High School or of High School age (14-18). The basic format will be to start out with some food and fun, then move into a mixed presentation/ discussion format. This year we will focus heavily on Scripture and Kerygma, both through Bible studies and the Alpha Youth series. We have also left plenty of flexible dates in the schedule to address issues of importance to the teens, as well as to relax and have fun as a group. Retreats will be offered as available.

High School Youth Group meets Sunday evenings 6:30-8:00pm, on the following dates:

August 16, 23, 30
September 13*, 20, 27
October 4, 18, 25

February 7, 21, 28
March 7, 21st, 28
April 11, 18, 25

There is no stipulated registration fee, but teens are encouraged to contribute as they are able by bringing snacks to share or chipping in money. Please note that Youth Group is primarily a supplemental Faith activity: while we seek to help youth grow in their faith the group is not a substitute for regular personal prayer, study, and sacramental life, and youth need not be Catholic to participate. Any high school youth who desire to become Catholic or to receive sacraments should seek preparation through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.), or an adaptation thereof.
